Answers about editing, exports, Premium, hosted profiles, and account data.

Getting started

No. You can pick a template, edit everything, preview, and export as a guest. A guest draft lasts for the current browser session only — export your ZIP before closing, or create a free account to keep your sites saved and continue any time, on any device.

Filter the gallery by your career category and open a few previews. The sample content shows the tone each template is built for. If you are between two options, try your real headline in both before choosing.

Starting a new site from a different template is always possible, but content doesn't auto-migrate between templates yet — their section structures differ. If you're between two templates, spend five minutes in each with your real headline before committing.

Editor

PortfolioDIY is system-first: you edit content and design tokens, and the layout keeps its structure. Free positioning is easy to break on smaller screens. You can still reorder whole sections from the left rail.

Guest drafts last only as long as the browser session: closing the browser (or switching browsers or devices) discards them, and they can't be recovered. Sites on an account are saved to the server and load anywhere you sign in — create a free account before your next editing session so this can't happen again.

Rule-based lint over your content: a missing call-to-action in the hero, text that fails contrast, images over the weight budget, and broken external links. Each flag points at the exact field to fix.

The editor works best on a desktop browser — the three-panel layout needs the room. Your exported portfolio, of course, is fully responsive on every device.

Export & hosting

A ZIP containing a complete static site: semantic index.html, one BEM-structured CSS file driven by your design tokens, minimal vanilla JS, your optimised images, SEO files (sitemap, robots.txt, JSON-LD), and a README with deploy instructions. No external scripts, no tracking, no dependency on us.

GitHub Pages, Netlify, Vercel, and Cloudflare Pages all host static sites free. The export README has step-by-step instructions for each. A $3/month cPanel shared host works too — the export ships an .htaccess tuned for it.

Yes. The CSS uses custom properties for design tokens, so many visual tweaks are one-line changes. The HTML is semantic and readable, and the exported files are yours to modify.

No. Exported sites have no runtime dependency on our servers: no CDN calls, no API, and no PortfolioDIY runtime. Hosted profiles at pfdiy.com/your-name do run on our servers, so the exported ZIP is the independent copy.

With Premium, hit Publish in the editor. You pick a unique address at pfdiy.com/your-name and your site goes live there. This is included with the $7 watermark-removal purchase, so you can be online without buying a domain or hosting. One live profile per account.

Your hosted page at pfdiy.com/your-name stays online for a short grace period. If you pay for another 12 months during that time, it continues without being taken down. New exports include the badge again after Premium ends, but exports you already made stay clean and keep working.

Billing

12 months of Premium for your whole account: every export from any of your sites ships without the badge, generator meta tag, or HTML comment. You can also publish one portfolio at pfdiy.com/your-name without buying a domain or hosting. Everything else is already free.

The payment confirmation can lag by a few seconds. Wait a moment and export again. If it persists, email [email protected] with your account email and we'll fix it quickly.

No. When your Premium term is about to end, you get an email reminder. Renew if you want another term, or ignore it. Exports you already made keep whatever they shipped with; new exports include the badge again after Premium ends.

If something went wrong with your purchase — a double charge, an accidental purchase, an export still watermarked — email us within 14 days and we'll make it right.

Account

With your email address and a password. Passwords are stored salted and hashed — never in plain text. Sign in from any browser and your synced sites follow you.

Deleting a site from My Sites removes its server copy immediately. To delete your whole account, open Account settings → Danger zone and confirm with your password — or email [email protected] and we'll do it for you. Guest drafts clear themselves when the browser session ends. Your exported code is unaffected — it's yours.
